What’s a chapter of your life you’d title "The Hard Years" — and what got you through it?
Frankly, that could be a multitude of chapters, but if I had to narrow it down, it would be my life between 2000 and 2001. That was the timeframe I lost the most important person in my life, got a second niece, and the Twin Towers were hit. I was already emotionally struggling to make amends with life and death, dealing with the guilt that came with blaming myself for something that wasn’t my fault. Life around me was changing so fast that I couldn’t breathe. And then at the end of it all, a global event happened while I was already trying to make sense of so much.
