Letters from the dead. 001

Dear Whelp,

With your birth soon to arrive, I fear I have many guilts. For you see, over my 800 years of life, I have made many enemies. So with your birth upon us, I wish to write you a letter in hopes that it does not clear my crimes, but enlightens you to do better.

In the land you are about to greet, our blood does not originate. Our ancestral land lies across the ocean, filled with sand and fire. That land has many names. The barren desert of the sand dragons. The raging sun of the red dragon. Or, as your uncle Romenos calls it, the land where gods go to die. These lands are part of the continent of Daimonas.

Fear not, whelp, for your birth will be on land as green as the sky is blue. A land filled with many riches our kind is known to conquer. A land so vast that all my attempts to burn it to ash is neglectable. One would even underestimate my abilities when seeing this land. I find it quite enjoyable to find something I cannot destroy.

Hence, after 300 years of war and being known as “The Invader,” I chose to do something unpredictable of me. I somehow chose to step away from my family’s legacy and build a more peaceful one with your mother in the continent of Skotadi. I look forward for you to meet my brother-in-arms, who not only rules this continent but is the one who taught me a better path of existence.

At that, this ruler is very knowledgeable. Tribes I have wiped to near extinction, he somehow revived through cultural knowledge that I still cannot fathom where he learned it from. Lands I have burned to ash, he grew back with magic I do not understand.

This king’s ability isn’t like anything I’ve ever known. At that, he is 200 years my junior. And thanks to him, I’ve seemingly parted from the faith of my homelands. I, and you alike, now follow a belief that is far older than my kind. A religion following an ancient primordial god of the All-Seeing Sun.

Blessed to become your father,

Victor Pandragon, 20th son of the 1st Red Dragon House of Pantel-De-Dragon.
