As I sat by a window in the main living area of the compound, I watched the snow fall outside. For all its worth this was starting to look like the most boringest Christmas break EVER. Typically mom would be in the kitchen baking cookies, but today of all days she was out shopping. So with a huff I moved away from the window and started to wandered around the Capsule Corp compound in search of entertainment.
I took a peek into the garden. Surprisingly dad was nowhere to be found. But before I left I made sure to give extra pets to every single one of the animals, including the dinosaurs. Once leaving the garden I continued my wandering through the compound. Eventually I made it into one of dad’s main labs. “Dad, I’m bored!”
The old man chuckled before turning around in his chair to face me. “Hi Bored, I’m dad.”
I folded my arms in a huff as I walked over to him. “That’s not funny.” He kept chuckling as I looked at his current project.
“How can I help, sweetheart?”
“I don’t know.” I handed over a wrench just in time for his hand to wave over to me. “It’s snowing outside.” Dad cut a few wires before unscrewing a few bolts. “There’s nothing to do.” I handed over his soldering gun. “And mom is shopping again.”
Dad just chuckles again as he puts his cigarette bud in the ashtray before grabbing another. “How about checking out the attic?” As he lit his new cigarette I looked around the lab for a moment.
“You can’t be serious.” I watched as dad closed his eyes while taking a long drag of his cigarette.
He eventually looked at me while pointing with his new cigarette. “I’m sure there’s got to be something in there that would catch your interest. After all, between me and your mother we sure have collected many things over the years. Half the time I can’t remember what I stored away.” Dad then went back to work.
With a huff I walked away. “Fine.” As I neared the doorway, I looked back at dad, just as he was soldering another section of his project. “Remember to take a break, dad.”
He waved his hand at me. “Will do, sweetheart.” With that said I left his lab and started heading to the attic.
As I walked through the compound to the attic I passed rooms I completely didn’t even know existed. Some were just normal guest rooms, while others were completely empty. There were even a few that were large enough for a lab. Maybe I could ask dad to help me build my own lab. Na.
Just as I reached the stairs that led to the attic I already made a mental note of all the rooms I’ll look into afterwards. Once in the attic I was not surprised by all the dust and spiderwebs. Besides that, there were a lot of shelves with books, trophies, and random boxes. Then there were chest after chest everywhere. Dad even had a few robots up here.
Well… since I’m here I might as well start looking around. I walked over to one of the bookshelves and picked a random book. After blowing some dust away I peeked inside. From the looks of it this was just filled with some of dad’s invention schematics. Boring. Another book had food recipes. Probably mom’s.
With each book I looked through there was nothing exciting. Just of old people thoughts and food. Granted a handful of the inventions in the books are inventions dad already created. Heck, one book had the original concept for capsule technology. It looked nothing like what is currently available. Whatever.
The mounds of chest were also disappointing. So much so that I almost gave up. That was until I found a chest filled with books. Looking through one it seemed to be a history book. “THIS IS USELESS!” I threw the book back into the chest and stomped out the attic.
Just as I got back to the main living area is when I saw that mom had gotten back home. She was smiling as she was holding a tray of orange juice and cinnamon rolls. “Oh dear. You’re filthy, Bulma.” I ignored her as I took a roll from the tray.
“Dad sent me on a pointless trip to the attic. There was nothing but useless books.” I munched the cinnamon roll as I went to grab one of the glasses of orange juice.
“You poor thing.” Mom looked away for a moment before smiling.
