Chapter 5
Queen touched my face, which felt so warm. But I had to resist reacting to it. Especially when I heard a hiss, like something was opening. That’s when I witnessed Queen’s helmet disintegrate backwards, as if retrieving to where the base was. And what was left behind was breathtaking.
For I was now staring at the most gorgeous man I ever met. Pale with pink undertone, reddish freckles splatter across his face like stars. The deepest of blue eyes, that faintly seem to be contacts. I wonder what his real eye color was. Then his blonde, wavy hair was in a messy fringe cut. And based on the undercut, Queen’s real hair color was black.
And the more I kept looking I was left speechless. He had two nose piercings. One on the bridge of his nose and the other on his septum, which truly complimented his beauty. Not to mention, the light purple eyeshadow, and emaciated black eyeliner. Everything about his face kept drawing me in. “Are you done staring?”
Oh god! His voice. It was rough, but in an elegant way. The way he elongated each vowel sounding like he was singer. I was so engrossed trying to remember his voice, that I almost forgot that my automatic voice memos were disconnected. Which was so unfair and wrong. How would I be able to hear his voice again? Or see his face? Why did he insist on no tech?
“Did you just growl at me?” At that I finally blinked and looked away from him. I took another sip of my drink. “Stupid.”
“Says the one who was quiet this whole time until now. And then you took off your helmet.” Queen shook his head before returning behind the bar. I watched as he started making another drink and it’s then I couldn’t stand the quiet any longer. So, since he’s clearly talking, I’m going to use that to my advantage. Along with attempting to memorize his voice and face without my tech. “Is there a reason why you aren’t allowing me to use my tech?”
“Perhaps. Do you want to switch colors?” He placed the second drink in front of me. I didn’t even finished the first. Besides the amazing view, I wanted to cherish every last drop of my drink. Especially when after today it’s back to work. And there’s no telling if I’ll ever drink this or see Queen again.
“Do I have to switch colors?” Queen shrugged his shoulders as he said it didn’t matter. “So, why you made me pick a color in the first place?”
“Why not?” He then proceeded to lean forward and rest his elbows on the counter, while holding his face up with his hands. “So, tell me about yourself?”
There it was. The question everyone asks. The same question that always ended the same way. Either a one night stand or trying to bleed me dry for money. And just as I was enjoying the last drop of my first drink. I might as get this over with. “I’m the CEO of Drag—”
“Not that.” I was shocked. He didn’t even let me finish my typical response to that question. What is going on? “I’m not asking about your job.” I looked at Queen in complete disbelief.
“Then what are you asking?” Queen huffed before started working on a third drink, as I grabbed the second.
“Hobbies? Favorite food? What music do you like?” I just blinked at him.
“What kind of questions are that?”
“Well, I like to play video games with my daughter on my days off.”
I once again stood up without thinking. “You have a kid?”
“Sit down, big boy.” I did. “And, yeah. I have a kid. She’s 5 and is my whole world.”
I took a sip of my drink. The way Queen smiled as he spoke was incredible. And here I thought he was gorgeous enough. Nope. His beauty keeps increasing with every small detail I’m, shockingly, learning about him. “Congratulations. Who’s the mom?” I can’t believe I just asked that! Especially with how I suddenly found myself tightening my jaw.
“You don’t have to worry about that.” Somehow that was enough for me to relax my shoulders, that I didn’t know were tense. “So, aren’t you going to say something about yourself?”
I looked at the drink before me, just as Queen passed me the 3rd one. “I like to drink.”
“Obviously.” I caught him rolling his eyes when he spoke. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to punch or kiss him for that. Which was confusing on it’s own. “Do you have a favorite food? I enjoy pizza.”
I somehow was not enjoying this. Queen wasn’t behaving like every other guy I came across. No getting excited about me being a CEO and trying to get into my bed. No requesting to be my sugar baby. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I’m not sure what I want now. And as I took a sip of my drink I recalled how Alex stated this was Queen’s day off. He probably would rather be with his daughter than be here. And yet… “Hey, I’ll make you a deal.”
“Oh?” Queen paused making the forth drink. Was he just going to keep serving drinks until I said stop? That was nice, but I won’t get to enjoy that. “What kind of deal?”
“Sit on my lap until I finished these two drinks. After that, I’ll leave and you can get back to your daughter.”
I watched as Queen’s left eyebrow went up a bit. “Are you sure about that?” Of course I wasn’t but I’m not going to hold someone who gave me something I didn’t think I would have thought of. He forced me to unplug and everything was quiet. So, the least I could do for him is allow him to go back home.
“I’m sure. It is your day off, after all.” Queen looked to the door before looking back at me. He then finished making the forth drink.
“Fine. But you have to finish this drink as well.”
“Of course.” With that Queen moved the drinks to the small table by the couch. And when I sat on the couch, I was somewhat thrown off at how Queen sat on my lap. I wasn’t fully expecting him to full on saddle me, but I wasn’t complaining. I half expected something else with how different he was to other guys. But this was definitely a great birthday gift.
It even became better as Queen wrapped his arms around my neck. I allowed my right hand to rest on his hip, while I kept my drink in my left hand. And as I drank the liquor I also drank in everything about Queen.
From the way his lips parted as he pressed against me just right. The way the room’s lighting gave him almost a halo effect. Then I couldn’t help admire how perfect he fit on my lap. Almost like he belonged there. No other guy ever felt this good on my lap. My mind was now swimming with something that wasn’t alcohol and it was amazing.
“You still didn’t answer. What’s your favorite food?” Oh, right. He was asking about me. I almost forgot with how his weight was on me.
“I can’t really say. But if I had to pick it’s between Chinese and Mexican food. At that, the authentic.”
“Well, then. That’s something we have in common.” Before long I found myself talking about food with this strange man. From how I enjoy cooking, when given the chance. To learn Queen doesn’t know how to boil water. “Hey!” He lightly slapped my chest. “Don’t laugh.”
“I can’t help it. You burned a pot of water.” And it was right there and then that I became sadly aware that I just drank the last of my drinks. So, it was painfully time to complete my end of the deal.
“I could make you another drink.”
“No.” I picked up Queen as I stood up. “I made a deal with you, and I keep my word.”
And at that moment, Queen did something surprising. He gave me a quick kiss on the lips. Before I could react to appreciate the sudden act, the kiss ended. “Happy birthday, big boy.”
