It’s the little things that matter.

Apparently, I got my July funds a day early, so I was able to start paying off bills a day early. Given that, I also took the opportunity to start the initiative I outlined in my Plan with Me for July 2026. This was buying tools to help me clean, and slowly purchasing items to make my apartment feel like a home.

Speaking of which, I finally got a new pillow. Something that needed replacement since last year, August. Yet I had refused to get a new pillow, trying to make sure all my home essentials were covered, like cleaning supplies and extra groceries. While I was also seemingly neglecting my physical needs.

As I wait for my online order of the cleaning assistance, a proper dresser for my clothes, plus décor to keep working on making my apartment a home, I did buy a few things at Dollar Tree to start small in a few places. Granted, I had already done only a few of these things, but I was mainly missing 2 vases to hold flowers.

In the bathroom, I had sculpted a few things and left them there. With that said, the glass jar and the rocks in it are new. The plants themselves were gathered from the path behind my apartment complex. I thought it would be nice to have a few fresh flowers to brighten up the place instead of fake flowers. That way I am more inclined to gather more flowers in the future, making it a nice reason to go on walks and venture through Grants Pass.

As you can see, the before-and-after have two completely different energies. One is trying to keep it together, while the other adds some hint of life.

After that I decided to refresh my kitchen windowsill. I took some of the fake flowers I had in another vase to use in my kitchen. These flowers I had bought over time during my first year in my first apartment. Because I chose to maintain my apartment rather than make it feel like home, I had slowly stopped buying items. Now that I decided to try harder to feel like home I thought a nice refresh would hit the stop.

The green onions were long overdue to be thrown out, but I kept them because they brightened the place up. I temporarily set the pumpkin Halloween fairy lights out of the way to take the after photo. Now the windowsill doesn’t feel so cluttered or like it’s fighting for space, while also staying true to my original intentions.

As a treat for reading, here’s a photo of my supervisor.

I find it cute that she’s a tuxedo cat because my favorite animal is orcas. So for my first cat, my Emotional Support Animal at that, being the same colors as my favorite animal brings me great joy.
