Healing Journey ###

Describe a positive thing a family member has done for you.

Comfort me when dealing emotionally distress. Mainly my grandparents, and my dad when he takes me to the doctors growing up.

And recently, my dad validating my decision to leave New York to better my life. Especially stating he’s happy I left my sisters who treated me like a slave. Having him say that confirmed I wasn’t crazy and that I made the right choice.

It felt nice to talk to my dad again after 3 years. Even more so to hear how proud he is of me about doing something for me. Compared to my mom who cared that she loved me and questioned why did I leave her.

A huge weight was lifted hearing the sharp companion between my parents. From a distant mother figure who only ever tolerated my presence until I became an adult and was useful to her. Vs my father who was my whole world, even when I’m terrified of his anger he was still my support system.

And after our conversation recently it also uplifted a cloud that blocked off a lot of emotions and memories. Even though I knew I had mother issues, it was nice to hear the difference as someone who healing.

So, it’s nice to be reminded that I had more positive memories of my father than I originally thought. Which gives me a sense of hope and love knowing that I truly had more people that love me during my trouble upbringing.
