What’s something most people don’t know about you?
That’s a hard question since I’m very open about everything. Let’s see,
I like baseball. I mostly enjoy playing, but I like to watch. I’m not a hardcore Yankees fan, but I appreciate good sportsmanship. I also enjoy watching and playing basketball. Same goes for soccer, tennis, volleyball, and even hockey. I just really love sports and have always wanted to get involved in one long term. Beside sexism, nobody ever believed in me and family life wasn’t the most supportive to any of my hobbies to allow me to tryout for a team. Let alone, be in a school that had those extra after school activities.
I was a journalist for my high school newspaper. One of my poems was issued a book (forgot which one). In high school I also worked through a youth program in summer and all year round. In 8th I took part in a Tae Kwon Do program and almost took part in a tournament. Family shit happens and I got discouraged to the point depression took over.
Also in high school I took part in their culinary summer program. I did a lot. High school was very were I was given a taste of support for my interests enough to try everything. But I will always thank my elementary school teachers for inspiring me to write poetry and draw.
So, yeah. I doubt anyone knows that I like playing all type of sports and have always wanted to try out for a team.
At that, I’m currently working on my goal to be able to do track. Not professionally. Just something for fun, since I like walking and I want to build up the endurance to run. I also want to get into boxing and MMA. Again for personal gain and not professional.
I wish I could turn back time and encourage myself to fight for the things I want. Maybe I would have found who I was sooner. Maybe even get a chance to take part in baseball tryouts. But I can’t do any of that. So I’m trying to find a way to accomplish my childhood dreams the best I can now.
