What’s a lesson you’ve learned recently that shifted your perspective?
In all due respect, to myself, I should plan yearly vacations.
I’ve started plenty of times I don’t recall ever going on a true vacation my whole life. I went to school all year round. Jumped straight into work after college. I been struggling with family issues for so long it affected my every decision.
Then I moved to Oregon. Which I interpreted the 4 years as a “vacation” because it was the first time I chose to leave a toxic environment. Yet I missed my home city of New York.
But when I finally returned to NYC for 2 weeks, granted for originally job seeking opportunities, it became more of a true vacation. When I returned back to Oregon I felt refreshed and energized. Something that a vacation should make a person feel.
Which lead me to one important lesson. Force myself to actually take a vacation to break up the endless loop of daily life.
Speaking of which, I’m already trying to plan my next vacation. Might not go to my home city so that I can experience something completely different, instead of sticking to something I know.
