Curiosity and Hope

What does it mean to be a kid at heart?

To still be curious about the world around you, and finding joy in the most simplest of things. Like spotting a worm on the sidewalk after a rainy day. Seeing rainbows in just about any pool of water.

Getting excited about something that other people find stupid. Such as seeing cool art on a soda can or pack of ramen. It might be dumb to other people because they already seen it. But to you it’s so cool because you haven’t seen it until that very moment.

To get a sudden burst of joy seeing someone walking their dog. Or walking past a small patch of dandelions. Just randomly dancing in the rain or in your own home.

Becoming sad when you run out of your favorite thing. Until you get excited after remembering you have adult money and can get more of your favorite thing.

Just being curious, enjoying the simplest of things without care, and it becomes a greater feeling when it’s something that is gets easier to do after you slowly leave a difficult depression in your life.

But there’s also the sense of hopefulness. Even when everything around you is dark, painful, and hard to bear, that small sense of hope is the child in you trying to hold on. Without hope we’re all lost.
